Jen Mann, one of our March artists stopped by this past weekend to drop off work for the show. This is her first US show, so we’re very happy to have her. The work looks amazing in person and we’re excited to get it up on the walls with Lacey and Bethany’s work.

Kicking off 2010!!!

Posted at 1:27 PM

Hello, hello! The holidays and bleak days of January are gone and  Jacquie and I are really psyched for an amazing 2010 season of shows! We will be blasting off to a great start this Saturday with the opening of Mall Curb, paintings and photographs from Columbus natives Thom Lessner and Patrick O’Dell, and to make it extra special Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace is providing food. There will also be an after-party at Dirty Frank’s from 10PM-2AM the night of gallery hop, featuring the ‘I love Philly’ dog, fries & a beer all for $5. What a great opportunity to support our artists and one of our favorite local hot spots.  We’ve got a few other tricks up our sleeves, working with Embassy Skate Shop in Columbus, and unveiling a 2010 t-shirt project to get hype some great local artists.

Keep checking back for more information, pictures and other exciting news!

Blood is the New Black T-Shirts

Posted at 1:09 PM

Mahan Gallery is now one of the few locations in the country and only spot in Ohio that carries Blood is the New Black t-shirts. Owner and line curator Mitra Khayyam focuses on displaying the works of emerging artists, illustrators and photographers in order to propel their careers and support the underground art movement via design collaborations. Mitra likes the idea of providing artists with an avenue to explore social topics and bring attention to issues. She challenges those daring enough to wear BITNB shirts to instantly become a walking canvas and conversation piece/starter.

Many of the artists that have collaborated with BITNB have shown here at Mahan Gallery, and we love these shirts! New shirts arrive constantly so check the online store or come into the gallery often.
